On Art & Creativity…

“I found I could say things with colour and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way – things I had no words for.”

- Georgia O’Keefe

Mandalas.

My art work is very focused on creating repetitive visual patterns, in a process that slows down thinking, and soothes the mind. I mostly create mandalas, circular shapes used as spiritual tools by different eastern traditions. All mandalas are born from a geometric centre, around which, new intuitively designed layers emerge. In many ways, mandalas are mirrors of nature and the universe we live in. Similar patterns are found in flowers, trees, fruits, animals, and the planet itself. Metaphorically, mandalas remind us to live a creative and authentic life, anchored in our hearts and our truths.

Paper.

From all my art work, paper mandalas are the most precise and detailed. I use acrylic pen to create different shapes, and water-based brush pens to colour them. Each mandala is unique both in shape and colour. One of my favourite practices is to draw paper mandalas intuitively, having someone in mind. Drop me a few lines about yourself, and I will be delighted to create something unique for you.

Wood Boards.

These mandalas are created using acrylic paint over a wood surface. Wood mandalas are beautiful to influence the atmosphere in a room. Cold colours (e.g. blue, green) are associated with peace, tranquility, and healing; warm colours (e.g. red, pink, orange) can increase energy, and enhance passion and creativity. What do you need more in your life? Imagine the life you want to create, and let mandalas help you in that journey.

Large Surfaces.

Recently, I started experimenting with painting mandalas on large surfaces and walls. These shapes are designed freehand, with no sketch lines to guide the process. It is a wonderful practice to develop intuition and cultivate trust in the flow of life. And, of course, they can infuse magic into a space and inspire your creativity.
